Remove the caliper, remove the caliper bracket, and remove speed clips that hold rotor. If the rotor is stuck , take a hammer and hit it squarely between the wheel studs.
Remove the tire and wheel. Remove the brake assembly. The old rotor will slide off. You might need to tap on the rotor with a hammer to get it to slide off. Reverse the process to install the new rotor.

The 2001 Pontiac Grand Am minimum brake rotor thickness is .075. The minimum brake rotor thickness is a standard minimum. Certified mechanics cannot use the brake rotor when the thickness drops below this level.

You first remove the caliper, then the caliper mounting bracket. Then the rotor is free.
If I recall... the caliper is what holds the brake pad to the rotor ;) So... DEF yes!! YES !!

You remove the brake caliper, at this point, the rotor will come off.
* Loosen the wheel lug nuts,raise the car and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel and install the lug nuts to hold rotor in place * Remove the brake caliper dont disconnect the brake hose from the caliper.After removeing the caliper bolts suspend the caliper out of the way with a piece of wire * Remove the brake pads then remove the two caliper mounting bracket bolts and detach the mounting bracket * Remove the lug nuts which you installed to hold the rotor into place and remove the rotor from the hub

there should be 2 bolts which hold the brake caliper on the rotor u will need to remove them to remove the caliper then just use a screwdriver to pop the pads off the caliper u will also need a C clamp to compress the piston back in the caliper or u will not be able the replace the caliper on the rotor
