Jack up and support the right front of the vehicle. Remove the wheel/tire. Remove the brake caliper and hang the caliper with a piece of wire out of the way. Remove hub/rotor assembly. Remove backing plate and spindle. Slide out axle assembly. Replace u-joint as you would on a driveshaft. Assemble in reverse order.
i have an '02 xl-7 the rotors come right off
On a Marauder VZ800 (1998), remove the black cap (triangle shap) on the right side at the front. There you can fill radiator fluid.
remove wheel remove big nut holding axle 32 mm socket remove two big bolts on top of spindle Take puncher about 4 mm in diameter and punch out pin holding inner cv joint at transmission . Pull out everything . Reverse procedure , but with new axle make sure you will align all marks right /
is it front wheel drive? if so the cv joint is bad
remove axle nut in center of wheel before jacking it up then raise and support vehicle on stands and remove front tire then caliper and rotor then rotor mounting bracket remove bottom ball joint from the front spindle and you should be ready to pull the axle out then just reverse these steps to reinstall. hopefully this helps you
Remove the tire and wheel. Remove the nut from the top of the ball joint. Pound the ball joint out with a hammer or mallet. Reverse the process to install the new ball joint.
remove the right side engine cover
Remove the Right side 2nd cover (2 Bolts)
you need to take off the rotor and caliper and braket of course, take the axel nut off. Take the three bolts out of the wheel bearing and pull the wheel bearing out. Then the cv joint should come right out. You may need to put a flat pry bar behind the cv joint and the front diff to pop it out.
You must remove the transmission, the front differential is built right in.
Turning right loads the left front wheel of the vehicle, so if you hear the knock when you turn right the bad CV joint is on the left, and vice versa.
