Usually the fuel cap and other leaks like that will reset after the engine has gone through a few cycles, or you can use one of the better OBD2 diag scanners to clar the code. Another easy way to clear your codes is to simply disconect the negative battery terminal for about a minute. This will clear to code. If the code comes back on then there is something else going on.
If it has seized up it will need overhauled or replaced.
When the engine stops working, have a qualified mechanic look at it. That person will be able to tell you whether the engine can be fixed or needs to be replaced.
A hole in a 5 horse power marine engine cannot readily be fixed due to the high pressures created by combustion. The damage component must be replaced to fully repair the damage.
Well a possibility is a problem with the radiator, either it needs to be fixed, replaced, or has no radiator fluid in it to cool the engine.
Disconnect the battery for about 10-15 minutes resets the computer, and that means no Check Engine Light after you have fixed/ replaced what was wrong.
Fixed it - Turned out to be a bad MAF sensor.
Until the problem causing the check engine light to go on is fixed. It might not be the gas cap, or the one you replaced it with could be wrong.
I had same problem. I fixed it when I replaced my fuel pump with an inline electric pump & regulator. 4psi worked the best for me.
I had the same problem with a 1992 Park Avenue with the 3800 engine. I first replaced the electronic ignition but that did not fix the problem. I then replaced the crankshaft heat sensor. That fixed my problem.
yes yes yes. I had to replace my engine the day after I bought it for a warped head, and a scored cylinder because of a head gasket leak that the dealer never fixed, then a year later i replaced the engine again for the same reason, once the head warps it cannot be fixed, only replaced. But usually by then its to late, and the rest of the engine is #@*@ed. Check the usual culprits, water pump, temperature sensors, gaskets to save your engine.
Yes.
Fuses cannot be fixed, only replaced.
