aftermarket tach is fairly simple one wire hooks on to the distributor it says tach lead one ground wire and one power wire some have optional light wire the power and light wires i just tap into the corresponding wires of of the radio
Most tachs have a green wire that goes to the negative side of the coil, and at least two more wires for hot and ground. Sometimes there are two hots. One for the tach and one for the light. Check inside your tach to determine which wire goes to ground, and you should be able to figure it out from there.
one white wire goes to the distributor, the other goes nowhere. This is the lead that goes to the tach
Its EASY! just connect the (usually green) wire to the negative post on the coil. Hook up the power wires and the illumination wire and ground for the tach wire and ur done its easy!
The tach signal to the cluster is not on a dedicated wire. It comes over the CCD data bus. Which is a pair of wires that the computers on this vehicle use to transmit messages and information.
there is a white almost tanish looking solid color wire on the group of wires that plug into the guage cluster use a quick connect to connect the signal wire from the tach to the white wire on the guage cluster
The tach has a lot of wires coming out the back, here are what the are for: ~The RED wire goes to a power source. ~The BLACK wire goes to ground. ~The BROWN and BLUE wires are for the tach internal bulbs. ~The GREEN wire needs to go to a blue wire that is located under your hood top right corner. The blue wire has a black rubber cap on it.
IF you have the installation instructions for the tach, it prolly tells you where to attach the tach wire. If not, call the manu. of the tach or search for their website online.
a factory cluster with a tach will work if installed w/o any other work. and aftermarket tach needs the signal wire from the distributor. look for a blue wire comming from the harness to the right of the master cylinder area. also near the hood prop. tap that wire for signal, then run your wires for power, ground, and illumination.
yes, check out autometer.com and they have info on what color wire to tap into. I assume you have a tach, so what you do in run the tach pick up wire to the distributer (where all the spark plugs are) and there is a couple of wires going in the distributor, one of those is the one you need to carefully tap into. It will vary based on year and model.
you can install any kind of tach you want to in your car..if you do not have a stock tach then look in your manual for the rmp sensor wire..should be blue or green coming off the distributor...just splice into it...if you have a stock tach you can just splice into the stock tach wires by taking off the dash
the tach wire is a solid green wire that runs from the dizzy to one of the loom connectors.
