When a wild horse is faced with danger it's automatic reflex is to flee. Horses are flight not fight animals. Although, if the horse has no chance of escaping it will fight using it's hooves, teeth and body weight. Hope this helps!

Horses are prey animals and survive in the wild mostly through remaining alert to their surroundings and running away if they notice any danger. They quite fast. That said, horse have few natural predators (exceptions being the mountain lion, wolves working in a pack, and of course humans).

Horses were originally wild animals, so really have no problem surviving in the wild. However, breeds that are not native to the country they live in may have difficulty adjusting to the climate or landscape.

For example, an Arabian horse is typically very fine with a thin coat. This means that it would feel the cold much easier than, say, a Shetland pony. Therefore, if these two horses were released into the wild in the UK, the shetland would probably fare better than the arabian.

Wild horses travel in herd. A horse will usually try to escape danger by fleeing but a horse's defence from predators generally comes in the form of a kick.

Horse protect themselves by running away from anything they think is dangerous. If they cannot run they will turn and fight back by kicking, striking and rearing and bucking.
