What do you do if you get burned by a hot glue gun?

Always, and I mean ALWAYS keep a huge bottle of aloe vera gel with lidocaine, lid off, within arm's reach. Just gob it on generously if you burn, it draws the heat out quickly, preventing tissue damage. Leave it on the burned area for a few minutes, take a break: it will make a difference. Apply as often as possible; no cream based medication either because the "greasy" ones seem to hold heat in. Water based gels do not seem to retain heat, which must be part of the reason they feel so cool. When the glue falls on your skin, it sticks because it literally melts flesh with the heat. So be careful, and get the aloe vera gel!

You would treat it just like you would and other burn. Submerge it in cool water to start. After the skin temperature is brought back down, you can use a burn ointment and loose bandaging if needed. If the burn is large, deep, has blackening, or in a sensitive area, go ahead and call your doctor.

The moment you get burned like that put ice water on it. It hurts when you do, but it will help it heal and stop the pain. After the pain calms down dry it. If it still hurts after 30 minutes put more ice, wrapped in a cloth on it. If you have some ointment with zinc oxide and aloe put it on it.
