How do i check the oil on a 1991 Geo Metro?
The dip stick should be located on the passenger side close to the firewall, and on mine the handle is painted bright yellow. If it is not there, look for the metal tube on the engine where it would go. If you find it but with no dipstick, hit the junk yard or the local parts places for a new one.

Can a non crank sensor Geo Metro 1.0L work in a Geo Metro that had a crank sensor or will I have to exchange the oil pan and front cover behind the crank pully of the non crank sensor engine?

on your oil pan, close to the crankshaft pully. mine had one bolt (1996) Dont worry, no oil will come out. These ussually get dirty and not work well. Whatever brand you prefer. Just make sure it's a good brand 5w-30 weight. Here is more input: * 5W30 oil in your choice of brands will work just fine. * Regular 5w30 in cold climate. Use synthetic oil. Works wonders. * 10w40 or 10w30, Chilton book warns against using synthetic oil saying it causes leakage in the motor. It recommends 10w30 as an all around oil.
It should hold either 4 or 4 1/2 quarts after oil drain and oil filter change. Just drain your oil, replace your filter, and put 4 quarts in it. Start it and let run for about 30 seconds so new oil will circulate and fill new oil filter. Shut car off and pull out oil dipstick.
