ok very simple i did this weekend pull number on plug then get plastic drinking straw and insert it into plug hole until you hit the piston next ,of course you disconnected the battery, put 15mm socket on main bolt of harmonic balancer and start to turn engine by handfirst will come one mark on the balancer align that withh lower arrow on timing chain cover and you will see another mak that shhould line up with ponter on block check you straw if its a top of cylinder one stroke you are at tdc if not turn engine until marks line up and starw is pshed almost out of spark plug hole.then take distributor and line the rotor up with a small number 6 on distributir base ,you really have to look for it then stab the distributor in and by the way the rotor will not be pointing at number one cylinder email me if you still have problems rcrge@live.com
You take it to a mechanic. If your asking, you shouldnt be attempting it.

The camshaft position sensor is an intregal part of the distributor, therefore if the CMP sensor is defective the distributor must be replaced. Have it checked out by a qualified mechanic.

To replace the distributor cap on a 1996 Ford Falcon Futura, you first need to remove the screws holding it in place. Then pull the old cap straight off. Replace the new one, in the opposite order of removing the old one.
You have to drop the fuel tank. It's pretty straight forward from there.
You have to pull tranny. it is sandwiched between that & block, but pretty straight forward.

Yes you do have to remove the DISTRIBUTOR. I don't mean anything towards you, But it sounds like you don't do much mechanic work. And this job should be done by a good mechanic that you can trust. It has to be done RIGHT.
First disconnect the battery, remove the door panel and pretty straight forward from there.
