How do i know if the rear window regulator or the motor is not working there is a sound to the motor 2002 Lincoln ls?

If there is noise coming from the door when you push the switch up or down, then the window regulator is the problem. If there is no noise or movement of any kind it would be the motor or the wiring leading up to the motor such as a bad switch or broken connection.

Check the clip fron the window to the regulator. These will break off and you will hear the motor working but the window will not go up or down. You can replace your regulator and motor as one unit for little cost, if broken. You might get away with just replacing the clip to your window/regulator.
