How do you change a idler pulley on a 2002 dodge stratus 2.7 v - 6?

1. Have to raise the car up to take the front passenger tire off 2. Remover the plastic trim in the wheel well this will give you access to the all the pulleys. 3. The idler pulley is located between the main pulley and the alternator pulley. It has 2 13mm bolts holding it in place. This also tightens the belt so you will see a recessed square on the end of the bracket the pulley is on. take the 2 bolts out, take the pulley out, replace the pulley, get the bolts snug, make sure the belt is routed correctly, take a half inch ratchet to put tension (the recessed square) on the pulley then tighten the bolts all the way.

Which way does the pulley bolt turn?

Most bolts turn counterclockwise to come off. Year, make, model and which pulley would be helpful.

How do you replace a serpentine belt and water pump pulley on a 1990 Cadillac DeVille?

I just recently changed the water pump on my dad's 1990 Cadillac Deville. It was an undertaking let me tell you. First you have to take a 1/2" ratchet and position it in the place on the belt tensioning pully and pull it toward the front of the car. This will allow you to completely remove the belt. Take note as to how it is oriented around the various pulleys and the back idler pulley. I found that even after I had removed the three bolts that hold the water pump pulley to the water pump itself, I couldn't just remove the pulley. There wasn't enough room between the pulley and the frame. I was removing the water pump anyway, so I painstakingly removed all of the water pump mounting bolts and nuts, and removed the pump with the pulley loose. There are several bolts you can't get to anyway, unless you take the pulley bolts out. I just had to move the pulley to one side or the other in order to get to the bolts under the pulley. Installing the new pump had to be done in the reverse order. The lip of the pulley catches on the water pump shaft and that keeps you from being able to remove it. There may be an easier way, but I couldn't find one. I didn't want to take a lot of parts off to just to get the pulley out of my way. It's tough, but it can be done. I have the cut up hands to prove it. I hope this info helps you.

How do you replace serpentine belts on 1999 infiniti g20?

You must first do the power steering pulley to release tension. It's the pulley close to the fire wall. To release tension you need to jack the right side of the car up. Take the covers off by the right wheel. Power steering pulley will have three bolts to undo 1 is on the bottom in back of the pulley other 2 you can get on top. Just look really close to the pulley and you will see the grove where the pulley can move. None of the bolts need to come all the way out. The long bolt on top is what you use to make the belt tight. The second belt is easy to change. You can do everything on top. Adjust 2 bolts at the alternator. One is long that's to make the belt tight one is small to adjust it and your on your way. If you have problems with the first pulley stop and take a look at the second one and it will give you a good idle. It looks like the first one but smaller.

How do you replace the water pump on a Lincoln Town Car?

you have to take the radiator off. the fan shroud. the fan and clutch and pulley off the front. then take the bracket holding the ignition coil off. then remove the power steering pulley and unbolt the other bracket that is in the way. once all this is done simply take the water pump bolts and nuts off and install

On a water pump do you have to take the pulley off to get the three bolts off?

I assume you are talking about a water pump on a Ford or Chevy, if not sorry you were unspecific. I have seen it done where the pulley is left on and the bolts are backed out, then the pump pulled out to meet the bolt heads, then loosened some more until they are all the way out. I do not recommend it. there will be a lot more frustration than you need there, just remove the pulley and the bolt heads will be clear to come out and you can use a ratchet instead of a box wrench.

How do you replace the timing belton a 1995 Geo Tracker?

Remove the radiator and the clutch fan , Then remove the belts .You will have to loosen Alternator and the A/C compressor to do this . On the crank pulley there is 5 small bolts (8mm) around the inside of the pulley. Take them out . Then remove the pulley . Take the bolts out of the Timing cover and remove it . Under it you will find the Timing belt . It has a Tenisioner that has to be loosened . FIRST if possible align the timing marks . before removing the belt . This can be done by turning the large bolt that is in the end of the crank. . But if the belt is broken or damaged . Align the bottom pulley key way with the mark on the oil pump 12:00. . and the top pulley with the notch in the metal plate that is behind the top pulley . 12:00 . Install the belt. Then tighten the tensioner. reassemble in reverse order

How do you replace the water pump on a 1995 Ford F-150 4.9L I6?

I'm in the middle of changing one myself and so far i have gathered that you need a thin open end wrench to take off the thermal fan clutch and a large squared open ended wrench that holds the 4 bolts on the pulley. this allows you to hold the pulley and turn that big nut. it is reverse threaded so don't go crankin the wrong way. after that you take off the 4 pulley bolts and the pulley and all the hoses and the rest of the bolts holding the pump to the block and pry that thing off of there. I'm still lookin for that tool so if you happen to already have it and get done before me, tell me how it went and if you ran in to any unexpected extra work.

How do you remove a power steering pump bracket on a 94 jeep Cherokee?

bolts are accessed through the holes in the power steering pulley, use a long socket and line up the holes in the pulley with the bolts, spin it around to get all 4 Then the bracket mounts to the front of the engine in 2 places and one below the exhaust manifold. Removing these bolts will be easy once the pump is out of the way.
