Languages spread by colonization, when Another Country invades a host country and compels the indigenous people to speak their language. Languages also spread when the country that speaks a certain language becomes strongly economically or politically relevant, as is the case with English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, and Russian. Additionally, when large minorities grow in a country and speak a different language that the majority, the minority language also spreads as more people wish to also do business with the minority.
