Explain the various ways in which the skin can serve to regulate an organism's temperature?

The various ways in which skin can serve to regulate an organism's temperature would be through sweat and insulation. The skin excretes sweat on order to cool down the body and the skin also contains body heat by insulation.

Do animals sweat?

In order to regulate internal body temperature, the sweat mechanism allows an animal to quickly dissapate heat. Animals like a horse, cow or human will sweat with exercise or in hot temperatures. Reptiles & insects don't sweat as their body temperature is governed by the environmental temperature. Pigs on the other hand, are mammals and need to have water/humidity applied to the skin in order to help dissapate heat. This is the reason pigs are associated with wallowing in the mud. -Just racey In other words, you are an animal and you should be able to sweat so, yes. -QPerks

Do pigs sweat?

No. Pigs do have sweat glands but they do not function like a human's does. They can release a little water and heat through passive diffusion, but it is not enough for the pigs to rely on. So in order to combat heat, pigs have adapted by using behavioral thermoregulation, which is the act of cooling themselves in the mud or water.

How does sweating help humans to maintain a constant body temperture?

By sweating, your body removes some of the heat that is trapped in your body. When you sweat, water is released through the pores on your skin. The water/sweat that is on your skin contains some of the excess heat from inside your body. Eventually the sweat will evaporate or be wiped away, taking the excess heat with it.

Do all animals control their own body temperature?

No they cannot bt changes in the environment wil cause them to show effects of changes in temperatures of their bodies e.g sweatin to reduce body temp.

The sweat glands control body temperature.

How can an athlete's body uses water to control body temperature?

Mainly sweat.

Why does sweat control your body temperature?

Because, when you sweat, it evaporates from the surface of your skin, taking excess heat with it. This makes you feel cooler.

How do you control body heat?

Your body can either burn more calories to increase heat, or sweat to decrease heat (the evaporation of your sweat cools you down). To actively control your body temperature, there are drugs, compresses, clothing, baths, air conditioning and heating.

What is the effect of temperature on the body during sweat?

sweat lowers the temperature of the body by getting rid of excess liquid

Explain why it is important that people sweat when dancing?

When dancing, the body temperature increases. To release the excess body heat, the sweat glands secrete sweat on to the skin to reduce body temperature.

Which structures help maintain your body temperature?

Sweat helps maintain your body temperature, Whenever your sweat evaporates, it cools you down.

How does the skin get rid of the sweat?

To sweat (perspire) is a natural function of the human body. Sweat glands in the body react to changes in body temperature. Sweat is the body's cooling system. The gland excrete a salty solution which when this is on the skins surface evaporates and thus lowers the body's temperature.

How does sweat glands lower body temperature?

Sweat glands secrete water onto the surface of the skin. When this water evaporates it carries with it body heat, thus cooling the body and lowering temperature.

How does sweating control body heat?

Sweating cools the body through a process called evaporative cooling. Sweat accumulates on the skin and eventually some of the sweat particles get hot enough to evaporate. When the sweat evaporates, the average temperature of the remaining liquid is lower, and this in turn cools down the skin and the body.

Why do you sweat excessively?

to maintain our body temperature

How do the body's systems maintain control of temperature?

If you get too hot then you sweat which cools you down, if you get too cold then you shiver which warms you up.
