It depends on the dog and their relationship but recently i had to very old dogs that had spent their lives together and the one refused to leave the others side all day before she died.
Get your little dogs to socialize with as many dogs as possible, and they hopefully your little dog will start being friendly around big dogs.
Because they are different species.
It depends on how they're raised and trained. Like any other dog, Chow Chows need to be socialized so they learn appropriate behavior with other dogs, people, and places. When properly trained, they behave just as well as any other dog. When not properly trained, they can behave just as badly as any other untrained dog. To help a dog be well-socialized with other dogs, let them stay with their mom and litter until at least 8 weeks of age. They learn a lot about dog behavior from their mom in that time, so it's important not to cut it short. Then, encourage them to be around other dogs - at dog parks, at friends' houses, etc. so they continue to be around other dogs and continue to learn dog behavior from older dogs. Older dogs are more tolerant of mistakes in puppies and will gently correct them; when the same behavior comes from an adult, they won't accept it as well. That's why it's so important to start socializing a dog early.

Social science is the study of how organisms behave with another organism, either of the same species or different one (i.e. how dogs behave with other dogs. How cats behave with dogs.) behavioral science is the study of how an organism behaves at all times (i.e. how a beetle reacts when it is hungry.) It is important to note that social science is a subset of behavioral science.
