Many Buy here pay here companies instal a hidden GPS tracker. As long as the tracker is hooked up and for a while after it can be asked where the car is.
Many current cars do this from the factory and the lender of record can get that info from these systems.
If the car is not equiped this is How I was taught:
Home address, work address. Go to and check both, look for several blocks around. Back allys, back yards, parking lots and compunds and check every matching car regardless of licence plate #.
If that doesn't work: go to your neighbourhood when you won't be home ask the neighbors where you hang out and what your hobbies and such are. Then the repo guy checks your likely hangouts same way as above. Scummy lazy outfits call and intimidate you freinds and neghbours into pressuring you to surrender the car. This is not allowed under the law!
After that in most states they call the police and charge you for preventing a legal Repo. Yes it is illeagle to hide your car from the Repo guy.
