They plagiarize because they don't want to do the work, they are scared that their work isn't good enough, or because they waited too long and no longer have time to do the work. Another reason could be that they were never taught how to avoid plagiarism. Sometimes they don't understand the consequences or understand how easy it is to catch for a good teacher who knows his or her students.

Students may get away with plagiarism by copying someone else's work without proper citation or by purchasing essays from online sources. They may also use paraphrasing tools to change the words slightly to avoid detection. However, plagiarism detection software and vigilant educators can help prevent and catch instances of plagiarism.

Students intentionally plagiarize for a variety of reasons. Some reasons deal with personal academic confidence, pressure, or laziness. Since plagiarize is very common in middle school and high school, those who consistently got away with it feel confident that they can pull it off again in college. Some feel as though plagiarizing is no big deal. Because they are lazy to put their own time and effort into college writing, they strongly depend on shortcuts for the easiest way out. On the other hand, some people may feel pressured to cheat. When dealing with procrastination stress plays a major factor. Under stressful and frustrating situations, students will feel the need to cheat in hopes of completing an assignment or project on time. Also, taking information from the internet is easy to put together. Internet access simplifies the work for students because information is clearly displayed and open for students to copy and paste. Students find this easy form of plagiarism quick and helpful.

Because you are cheating yourself. It's better to use your own mind, that way you can feel more proud of it when people compliment the work
