You could get married by a justice of the peace or civil celebrant, which is a civil ceremony.

Have a civil service with such a person as a justice of the peace perform your ceremony - there are also private people that will perform weddings as well if you look in your local newspapers or yellow pages. You can obtain a list of people that are able to perform weddings and what you will need from your marriage license office.

AnswerThere is a difference between a religious marriage celebration, and a legal wedding. A legal wedding just means you are now OFFICIALLY married to that person. That's when you have to sign documents and so fourth. But if you want a ceremony do what that person said ^^^. AnswerTwo people may be married by any person who has been given the authority to perform a marriage ceremony, and who has no objection to doing so. This could be a civil ceremony, a captain on board a ship, or a religious leader such as a vicar, priest, rabbi, or.. sorry, I don't know who does Muslim weddings.

It is not unusual for British atheists to be married in church by a vicar - it's a lovely ceremony and part of the country's traditions. Cross-belief weddings may sound complex, but usually are not. My Muslim friend married a (non-practising) Christian, so they had a civil ceremony and then a blessing in a Mosque (which I was happy to attend). Another (atheist) friend married a Roman Catholic, and the service was performed by a Preist. The Priest knew that my friend was atheist, and had no objection to performing the ceremony - he applied no pressure for conversion before or after the wedding. He was merely happy to be part of the process of allowing two people who were very much in love to spend the rest of their lives together.

Answer

For my particular situation, I'm an ex-catholic turned atheist. My fiance is still catholic and wants the catholic wedding, so I'm just lying to the preist(s) and saying I'm still catholic so they'll do the ceremony. Though, it is also possible to ask permission of a bishop to allow the marriage to someone not of that faith.

But, getting married is as easy as going to a Justice of the Peace and signing a piece of paper. Usually the city hall or other city/state government building will have someone with the capability.

By going to a courthouse, getting a marriage license, and then having somone who can legally marry people marry them. Some athiests get married in churches. There are actually religions (such as Unitiarian) that don't have specific guidelines for what their beliefs are. they encourage skeptism and finding your own beliefs, which both appeal to athiests.

This sounds like the introduction to a joke, but taking it seriously ...

Usually people leaning toward Atheism get married at the County Courthouse or (in many states) at a Justice of the Peace. Others go to Nevada, where there are many completely non-religious wedding places.

Despite the fact that weddings are most often conducted by members of the clergy, marriage itself is a legal agreement that is established by the state, not by the church. Any couple who wish to marry can obtain a marriage license, with no religious ceremony being required. Marriages can be legally enacted by a Justice of the Peace. If an atheist couple did want to have a marriage ceremony, they are perfectly free to have any kind of ceremony that they like. Nothing requires them to have any religious element in their wedding ceremony.

How many atheist live in th US?

This is difficult to ascertain, as the word 'atheist' still carries a social stigma in the USA, and many people don't feel comfortable using it, even when it accurately describes their point of view. An ARIS study was conducted to find how people self-identified their religious beliefs. Amongst the estimated results for 2004 were the following: Atheist: 1,272,986 (0.4%) Agnostic: 1,398,592 (0.5%) Non-religious/Secular: 38,865,604 (13.2%) Despite the low number of people who readily admit to being atheist, almost all of the people who prefer to call themselves agnostic or non-religious are also likely to fit the definition. From the above figures, it is reasonable to make a conservative estimate of 40million American atheists. As a side-note, the study also revealed 1.5m Buddhists in addition to a handful of followers of other non-theistic religions.

Does Matt Bellamy have a religion?

Matt does not believe in god. In fact he disses god in the songs Megalomonia and Fury. (I"m not going to change your answer) but Megalomania doesn't diss god. I could see how you interpret "What were we built for, will someone tell me please" I think he's more talking about how he over sees society and thinks its just useless and he wants to see purpose.
