Step 1
In order to play Animal Crossing: City Folk with your friends, you must have your Wii console hooked up to the internet. For help with this, see the link below. You may want to right click on the link and "open in new window" so you can easily come back to this page.
Step 2
Before you can add friends, you must play Animal Crossing: City Folk a bit. You have to complete the part time job at Tom Nook's shop.
Step 3
Once you have completed steps 1 & 2 on Animal Crossing: City Folk, you need to add friends.
First, go through the archway at the top of the town and speak to the dog to the right of the gate who is named Copper.
Click on "Friend Code" and Copper will tell you what a Friend Code is.
Click "I want one" to connect to get your friend code for Animal Crossing: City Folk. Give this number to your friends.
Click on the heart icon, then select "Register a Friend."
Enter your friend's code and select "Confirm."
Enter your friend's name and select "Confirm."
Enter a comment, or select "Confirm" to ignore.
After the your friend has added your Friend Code also, you can visit each other's towns.
Step 4
To go to your friend's town, you need to go see Copper again.
Click "I Wanna Go Out."
Click "Nintendo WFC."
Friends who are currently online with their gates open will be displayed on the list.
Pick the town that you want to visit, then click "Confirm."
When you want to go home, go to the Main Gate and talk to Copper.
Click "Yep" to go home.
Step 5
For friends to visit your town, go see Copper again.
Click "Invite Guests" to open the gate.
If your friends want to visit, a message will show up on the screen to tell you.
If you don't want friends to visit, talk to Copper again and click "Close the Gate."
Click "Yup", and the gate will close.
Step 6
To talk with your friend, you will both need Wii Speak microphones. You will only be able to talk to each other while you are in the same town.
Make sure the power turned off on the Wii console.
Plug the Wii Speak microphone into a USB Port on the back of the Nintendo Wii system.
Turn the Wii on.
Insert the Animal Crossing: City Folk disc.
Select the Animal Crossing: City Folk disc channel icon.
Select "Start" to load the title screen.
Go to a friend's town or open the gates in your town so that friends can visit.
Click the heart icon.
Click the microphone icon and turn the mic chat feature on.
The Wii Speak microphone should work as soon as two friends are in the same town together.
Step 7
To text message your friend, you both need to be in the same town.
Go to a friend's town or open the gates in your town so that friends can visit.
Click "Keyboard."
Type your message.
There are three different games of animal crossing: Animal Crossing for Gamecube, Animal Crossing: Wild World for Ds and Animal Crossing: Lets Go To The City for Wii (City Folk). There will also soon be an Animal Crossing 3DS game out soon... But anyway- you can tell which game you have by what you play it on.
