Chapati Pizza is a instant pizza recipe that you can make anytime by following these simple steps provided by Motherszone.

Ingredients:

  • Chapati Flour - 1 cup
  • Cheese (Grated) - 1/4 cup
  • Capsicum (Chopped) - 1/3 cup
  • Oil - To toast
  • Water - As needed
  • Salt - As needed
For the Sauce:
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Onion (Big Sized) - 1/2 cup
  • Tomato (Big Sized) - 1
  • Garlic (Finely chopped) - 1/2 tsp
  • Tomato Sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Chilli Flakes - 1 tsp + a little more for serving
  • Oregano - 1/4 tsp
  • Pepper Powder - 1/8 tsp
  • Salt - As per taste
Method:
  • Take a bowl and put wheat flour, salt and mix them well.
  • Then add water slowly to form a soft dough.
  • Add 1/2 tsp oil and knead the dough a title more. Keep it aside.
  • Now, for making the sauce, blanch tomatoes till their skin starts to peel off on their own. Then drain water, remove the skin of the tomatoes and trim their edges.
  • Cut them into halves and put them in a mixer.
  • Without adding more water, grind the tomatoes into a smooth puree, and set aside.
  • Now, take a kadhai and heat some oil into it. Then, add garlic and sauté till it becomes golden brown in colour. Once done, add onion and sauté till it turns transparent.
  • Add tomato puree to the kadhai and let it boil for about 3 minutes.
  • Put the tomato sauce, chilli flakes, oregano and pepper powder into the kadhai and let all the ingredients cook until a thick sauce is formed.
  • Then turn the heat off and set the sauce aside.
  • Now, take the chapati dough prepared earlier and make slightly thick chapatis.
  • Separately, take 1/2 tsp oil and toast capsicum, till it shrinks a tad.
  • Then, heat a pan and cook chapatis on it.
  • Once done, then turn off the flame and arrange all the toppings. Spread the sauce prepared above on the chapatis and sprinkle the capsicum.
  • Then, add grated cheese to them and transfer the chapati pizza to a heated pan in a careful manner.
  • Cook for about 2 minutes on a low flame.
  • Now, remove the chapati pizza from the pan cautiously and sprinkle pepper powder and oregano. With the help of a pizza cutter, cut the chapati pizza into slices.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

How do you make chapati?

Mix chapati flour (a wheat flour which has not been over refined so has a good bran content) Mix with a little salt and enough water to make a soft dough. Knead until the dough feels elastic. Then allow it to rest for half an hour or so. Take the dough and form into balls the size of golf ball or a little larger. Roll the balls out into thin circles of dough like a small pizza. Indian and Pakistani ladies have a special thin rolling pin and rolling stand for this but an ordinary rolling pin and work surface will do. Bake the chapati either on a hot griddle stone or in a hot skillet/frying pan. The chapati will puff up a little . Turn them over when one side is browned and brown the other side.

How much fat do one chapati contain?

Say a cooked chapati weighs 35 grams. Of that, assume 5 grams to be the water weight, leaving 30 grams of flour weight in the chapati. For whole-wheat flour, the protein content is about 13%, and 11.5% for 'normal' flour. So, a whole-wheat flour chapati has about 4 grams of protein, while a 'normal' flour chapati has about 3.5 grams.
