You can pick up a kit from your local auto parts store. The kit will contain directions to help you BUT if you have a leak your wasting your money and polluting the atmosphere in the process. Take the vehicle to a pro.

The schrader valve on the low pressure side of the system.
You don't add Freon as it has R134a not Freon. You add it to the low pressure side which is the larger hose.
The 2000 Chevrolet Silverado truck has two ports on top of the air conditioner compressor. You will add Freon through the low pressure port.

There should be a fitting with a screw top on it somewhere in the AC hose in the engine compartment. Use R134A, not R12
The 134a plus just has PAG oil added already, so that you (theoretically) don't have to add it after adding the R134a.
