Using a set of a/c gauges put the blue hose on the low side (suction side) and the red hose on the high side (discharge side)........
Start the recharging process remembering to keep the low side readings between 30 to 40psi and the high side between 200 to 250psi depending on the outside temperature…………….

The 2000 Chevrolet Silverado truck has two ports on top of the air conditioner compressor. You will add Freon through the low pressure port.
It contains no Freon. It contains R134 Refrigerant. If it is low, that means it has a leak. It is illegal to add refrigerant without first repairing the leak. Take it to a professional for repair and recharge.
where do I add freon to my air conditioning unit on a 1997 chevy truck?
Your car contains no Freon R12, it contains R134 which is not Freon. If you need to add refrigerant then you have a leak. It is illegal to add refrigerant without first repairing the leak. Take it to a professional and get the leak repaired.

Freon is a very touchy thing to work with. The EPA bans its release into the atmosphere, so only experts and professionals know how to add and subtract Freon from the car safely. Take your car to a mechanic or a Chevy dealer for this.
It contains no Freon. It contains R134a refrigerant and you add it to the low pressure port which is the larger pipe.
