You need to first check and see if your Skylark uses Refrigerant 134 A ,,, or old style Refrigerant 12 by checking the tag under hood that supplies such info. While you are looking at tag also note how many ounces of refrigerant your system holds when it is completely full. Once you determine which type Refrigerant you have then you can purchase the refrigerant line connector that fits. R-12 and R-134A do not use same type test port connectors so they wont enter change. Places like Walmart sell kits with Refrigerant 134A or auto parts houses. You can not buy R-12 any longer. If you have R-12 then you need to by conversion kit and change it over to 134A. You should take it to shopand let them do it if it needs conversion because the equipment involved is not likely to be within yourarsenal of tools. If it is R134 a,,, then you in luck,,,, just by hose and gauge kit with can of refrigerant at WalMart or somewhere and follow kits directions. Easy to do but do not overcharge!!!!!!! Additional advice is that you add small 4 oz or so can of R134A refrigerant oil charge first. Your auto probably has seeped out someof the original oil charge over the years through shaft seal on compressor and often these seals will start leaking a bit when they become dry from low oil. So adding some oil is good doctoring on old carlong time not serviced A.C.. Good Luck,,,,, Jimiwane

Hello Again:

Here is something you might enjoy knowing about R-12 systems and new retrofit refrigerants.

  1. 1, There are several retrofit refrigerants available from different sources and under different names.
  2. 2, Usually you will find that retrofitting an old R-12 system with R-134A will result in a performance

loss that is enough to be noticed.

  1. 3, Although there are several products available and under different names from different mfg. and I

personally have not tried them all so don't count them out.

  1. 4, There is a product called Hot Shot from ICOR international labeled as R-414B.

It can be used to replace R-12 refrigerant without changing the oil type or modifying the system in anyway. The plus I've found in this product is that it actually has ( OUTPERFORMED ) the R-12 it replaces. You do have to evacuate system of any traces of old style refrigerants however. ( YOU CAN NOT JUST ADD IT ) Don't even think about it ! Proper equipment and EPA license is required for its purchase. ( sorry ) However the retrofit goes over much easier and smoother plus faster and you actually get a bit better performance than you did with the old R-12.

  1. 5 YES,,, it is EPA ACCEPTED and UL CLASSIFIED as nontoxic-nonflamable
  2. 6 Its ASHRAE Designation - R-414B,,,,,, ( American Society of Heating Refrigeration & Airconditioning

Engineers ) ,,, ughhh !!!! that's a mouthful huh ,,,, lol

How many pounds of freon for a 1997 Honda Accord se?

There is no Freon in a 1997 Honda Accord. It contains R134a refrigerant. If it is low of refrigerant you have a leak. It is illegal to add refrigerant to any system with a leak without first repairing the leak. The professional who repairs the leak will recharge the system and check to make sure there is sufficient oil in the system. Not a repair for a novice.
