I have recently looked into this option as i am a student in the higher end of high school. I looked into it and found you need to get at least a C for GCSE and to get into a good university to study teaching you need to be getting high grades too!

Further education

· teaching degree

· do a subject you like then do a PGCE (takes one more year than a teaching degree)

Qualifications

Grades needed

A GCSE (or standard equivalent) in English

Grade C

A GCSE (or standard equivalent) in mathematics

Grade C

A GCSE (or standard equivalent) in a science subject if you want to teach primary or key stages 2/3

Grade C

A UK first degree (or equivalent qualification) if you want to take a postgraduate teacher training course

Pass

so if you are interested i would sure give it a go!

To teach within the public school system in the United States at the pre-K through high school levels, you must have a bachelor's degree in a teacher education program from a regionally accredited college or university and state teacher certification. This would take approximately four years to complete as a full-time student, provided you take the program as prescribed by the college or university.

First, have Patience. As a primary teacher, you need to be patient with your students.

Second, be knowledgeable. You will give information to students, so make sure you are knowledgeable enough to satisfy them.

Then, be friendly and artistic. To make the primary students learn a lot, make sure the techniques you implementing are enjoyable. Like, playing games.

I taught elementary students for 30 years, and I can tell you truthfully that the kids were the very best part of it from day one, and were still the best part of it on the last day I taught. What you need to do it is a bachelor's degree in education, and no plans to "get rich quick", cause it isn't going to happen. You also need a great deal of patience (no brainer) and a knack for working with young kids (ditto). The kids will really try your patience on some days. But the kids will never try your patience like the school board and administration will, believe me.

What subjects are required for studying at university for teaching?

Hi, I'm currently finishing my a-levels and have been offered a conditional place on a primary teaching course. You don't have to have specific subjects to become a primary school teacher but if you hope to specialise in a certain field in secondary education e.g. you want to become a maths teacher you would have to have maths at a-level. If you want to be a primary school teacher I would recommend you do health and social care, and at least one subject from the primary education national curriculum.
