Each position requires a slightly different backgrounds in terms of education, and physical abilities and hire at entry level of GS-5 unless your experience qualifies you for a higher grade. You must be under 35 for most law-enforcement positions. To apply for most federal government job openings, you can apply online at www.usajobs.opm.gov. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services maintains a career link at www.uscis.gov and Immigration and Customs Enforcement at www.ice.gov. For most positions, you will be required to take a test administered by the Office of Personnel Management that is specific to the position you apply for. As positions become available, USCIS/ICE calls applicants with the highest scores first for interviews.
