Make sure Master cylinder if full,
Start @ right rear wheel cylinder bleeder screw, open bleeder, have someone inside the car step down lightly & slowly until pedal sinks to almost 3/4 way down to floor. hold pedal down, THEN CLOSE BLEEDER SCREW.
Do that at least 3-4 times, check fluid in master cylinder, then proceed to left rear and repeat procedure. You are done when no air comes out of bleeder. you shuld also have a hard pedal when done, that is of course that there is sufficient amount of brake shoe material, and the wheel cylinders are not leaking, and also that the rear shoes are properly adjust. Those are general rule of thumb procedures. You always start with the bleeder furthest from the master cylinder, then end up with the last one closest to master. hope that helped you, Please let me know, Ben
you need to do them one at a time first remove the tire then on the back of the brake drum there is a bleeder.you need a second person to push the brake peddle..first push and hold the brake then the second person needs a wrench to fit the bleeder opening the bleeder. close the bleeder befor letting the brake peddle up then repeat that a coupple time until fluid is clear of air..make shore to check brake fluid befor and after...
How do you remove the rear drum brakes on a 1998 ford escort
drum brakes
Disc brakes in the front and rear drum brakes.
Watch how you take them off and put them back on the same way. Then you have to bleed them since there drum brakes
Check related links below for drum brakes.
Only if the rear system was opened where it may have gotten air in the lines.
it wont stop. You will very likely push the seals out of the brake cylinder and have to repair or replace it and bleed the brakes
front and rear are disc
Camry 98 has drum based rear brakes.
No , starting with the 1995 Ford Explorer the rear brakes are DISC
NO. I had a 96 and it had drum brakes. I believe the rear disk brakes started in 1998 for the Blazers.
If you are having a low pedal feel, chances are you do not to bleed you brakes. I beleave you have shoe and drum set up in the rear. Have your brakes cleaned & adjusted. This will firm up your brake pedal.
