What are problems with 3.1 gm engines?

head gaskets blow and intake manifold gaskets break

2002 Chevy Venture no heat unless driving?

Perhaps low coolant level This is true, but why???? It's the first sign of a bad intake manifold gasket. Coolant leaking into the oil chambers of your van and into the oil. If this doesn't get fix for about $700, the oil will break down because of the coolant and then the internal parts of your engine will break. New Engine!!!

Where is the fuel filter located in a 1986 Toyota 4 Runner 22 R engine?

Open the hood and look at the engine. On the left is the intake manifold. Go around this side of the 4 runner and look directly under the intake manifold on the rear of the engine. The filter is held in with 2 bolts and has a connection on each end. When removing ensure engine is cool and stuff some rags under it as you break the connection on one end. Fuel will spill out some. Its easier to break the connection with it still bolted in and then remove it. Its a tight fit but easy enough to replace with out removing anything else. Go in through the wheel well if its easier for you to see what you are doing.

What if valve on a engine is not flush?

What happens if you switch intake and exhaust push rods on a 1999 Pontaic Grand Am with a 3.4L?

Where is the pcv valve located on a 1990 Buick LeSabre?

The general area of the PCV is located on the intake manifold. It has a small hose attached to it and you will need needle nose pliers to remove it. It's close to, and almost underneath the alternator. The grommet will most likely break when you take it out and some of may fall inside of the engine.

Intake Manifold Removal 89 Toyota Truck 22RE?

How to remove intake from 22re motor, when wire harness go threw the middle of it.is there a brake some where i the line?? On my 92 Xtracab Automatic the wiring harness that goes through the intake manifold has no breaks, it plugs into the transmission in 3 different places and has a couple of clips holding the bundle. Climb under the truck and be gentle while unplugging the harness, dont break a plug or damage the wires.

What would cause a metallic tapping noise that comes and goes on a 1991 Nissan 4x4 ka24E fuel injected engine?

either miss firing or most likely your exaust manifold. its common for high milage pathfinders to have exaust manifold bolts break. the loose manifold or broken bolt rattles.

Where is the pcv valve on a Mercury Villager and how do you get it out?

PCV Valve! The PCV Valve is located right beside the EGR valve (located in behind but attached to the intake manifold) and has a thick black tube connected to it, when that tube is removed, it will expose the PCV valve from there, you will have to unscrew it and replace it, then re connect the hose and start it up! Trust me it sounds a lot easier than it really is! It takes almost 90 mins to reinstall! I am not sure it will work on all Villagers! On a 2000 Villager, the PCV valve is pressed into a rubber grommet on a 90 degree tube extension from the rear valve cover, which is then connected by a black hose to a nipple extension on the upper rear intake manifold. The way to remove it is to unbolt the bracket attached to the intake manifold holding the accelerator cable, using 'right angled' pliers to open, then push the hose clamp back from the end of the hose attached to the intake manifold, then using the angled end of a brake shoe adjusting tool to push off the hose from the nipple on the rear upper intake manifold, being careful not to break off this nipple (the upper intake manifold is molded plastic and the nipple is part of the manifold). Once this end of the hose is loose, then the PCV valve with the hose attached can be pulled out of the grommet from the valve cover end.It helps to place a little silicone grease onto the manifold end of the hose and the base of the PCV valve that slides into the grommet for ease of future removal. Replace the hose clamp, replace the accelerator cable bracket, and you're ready to go. Make sure you do this with the engine cold, because there isn't a lot of room in the back of the engine. It took about 10-15 minutes to do it this way.

Where can you find the egr valve on a 95 Eagle Talon?

on a 95 talon with a 420a.. the egr will be a metal tube in the back of the intake, far right near the manifold. follow that down and forward to the front of the engine..there is a small disk like thing there. on 2 rubber tubes. it works by vacumme and should allow air to flow one way. this is the egr valve. Its just right of the intake manifold. About an inch to be exact. Easy to get to...be careful though, there is a fragile vacuum line attatch to the egr valve. If its old and dry, the line will break. I know, I just broke mine today 03-08-07...It's on the back of the air intake manifold, you can buy a haynes manual that will show a pic at any car parts store

How do you remove stubborn thermostat bolts 1998 crown vic?

Allow the engine to warm up fully before unscrewing those bolts. If they break off in the brass inserts of the plastic intake, replace the intake.
