You've got to pull the axles. take the big nut off the end of the half axles at the hub/steering knuckle. pull the axle out of the hub. Then take a big BIG prybar and pry the axle out of the transmission. Put a short length of broom handle in the transmission after you pry the axles out to keep the side gears from falling down into the case. You DONT want that.
