You cant.....must replace switch cluster. [EDIT: Not true- see the related link.]
shaking the blower resister
Behind the glovebox there is one panel to remove, then use a small socket to remove the two screws holding in the fan resister card and connector. You will need to lay on your back to do this using a light source.
it is probley not the blower switch. if your fan runs on 3,4 and 5 it is your blower motor resister.
how do you change heater blower resister merc a class
The front blower should have a resister to change the speeds. It is usually mounted close to or on the back of the blower motor.
Open hood, locate resister on passenger side of firewall, unplug the electrical connection, remove the three screws and remove resister.
hoW much does grease monkey garage charge to change spark plugs
if you lost one or two fan speeds you need to change the blower motor resister. it sells for around $60.00 at a dealer only.
Should be some wires going into a bolted-in plug on the exterior of the ductwork on the firewall of the engine compartment near the blower. just unplug, unbolt and replace.
Remove the glove compartment. Its behind it just to the left of the Blower. Disconnect the connector with four wires on the bottom. Remove two hex head screws, also from the bottom. I used a 7/32 socket to remove them. Remove resister. The resister looks like a small circuit board with printed circuit traces on it. Install new resister in reverse order.
i have a 1998 buick century and my blower motor is under the passenger side front wall inside.I found out that the blower motor resister was the problem.if it works on high speed only, replace the resistor first.it's cheaper but harder to get at.
I assume you only need to change the bulbs. Go into the trunk and look up. You should see the wires leading to the mounting point for the third brake light, you candisconnect the connectors and then change the bulbs this way.
