Drop the tank and the rest is easy.

Getting the Gas out before dropping the tank can proove to be a pain but after that is done the rest is easy. Two straps hang the tank. Remove the strap bolts and the tank will come undone. Remove the filler hoses, disconnect the power leads and the fuel lines and the tank is free. The pump comes out by twisting a ring.

As far as the pump is concerned.....some Chevys you can replace the motor cartridge (about $12-$60) some you must replace the entire pump assembly ($160-$300). All in all it is an easy job. Just do not smoke!
