On top of the intake, near the throttle body, you will see about a 2 inch square box with wires coming into the front and two torx safety screws in opposite corners. That is the MAF. Unplug the connector and unscrew the screws. The sensor should lift right out. Reverse the process to put the new one in.
This is one of the two sensors which is downstream directly after the catalytic converter.
Undecided QuestionShow me another » Where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 1997 pontiac with a 3800 motor
All 1997-and-up GTP's come from the factory with a 3800 supercharged engine. For 1997-2003 it was the 3800 Series II, and 2004-and-up it is the 3800 Series III.
There is a picture in the motor compartment.
Change the fuel filter before you go any further.
It should so long as both vehicles are each Supercharged 3800's or non-supercharged 3800's and make sure the Grand Prix has a 3.8L (3800 V6) and not a 3.1L V6 (3100)
look under the throttle body on the front of the engine there s a sensor with 3 wires going to it that is the engine coolant temperature sensor
it is on the rear valve cover.very hard to get to..The pcv valve is not visible on a 3800 series II engine, which I presume you have in your Grand Prix, because it is located under the MAP sensor. You will find that at the front of the engine, where the serpentine belt is located. Unplug the connector to the MAP sensor and then you will have to unclip the sensor itself. You will then see pcv valve underneath.3For a 3800 normally asperated check out the following website for pics and instructions. http://www.scacgp.com/mods/gt_pcv.htm."G"
No. The 96 is a 3800 Series II with different MAF sensor, fuel line attachments, fuel injectors and accessory attachments. The bolt pattern for the accessories is probably the most diffucult to overcome
You don't have to modify it at all. They should be the same engine. Unless the 99 had a 3.1 in it then you'd have to change out the entire drive-train and probably the computer too.
The knock sensor is located on the 95 oldsmobile 98 with a 3800 engine under the midpoint of the heads.
The 3800 in the SE is the same engine as in the GT. Check out the following website for pics and instructions on how to change. http://macgp.clubgp.com/howto/engine/pcv/gt/pcv.html Hope this helps. "G"
