There is a great write-up with pics on how to change the PCV valve at: http://macgp.clubgp.com/howto/pcv/pcv.html Hope this helps. G
The PCV is a small metal cylinder the is plugged into the top of the valve cover and has a 1/2" coming out the other end.
For pics and instructions for the Grand Prix GT check out. http://macgp.clubgp.com/howto/engine/pcv/gt/pcv.html . "G" It is in the intake behind the throttle boly.
A 1997 Jeep 4.0L does not have a pcv valve. It uses an orifice in the top of the valve cover.
it is on the rear valve cover.very hard to get to..The pcv valve is not visible on a 3800 series II engine, which I presume you have in your Grand Prix, because it is located under the MAP sensor. You will find that at the front of the engine, where the serpentine belt is located. Unplug the connector to the MAP sensor and then you will have to unclip the sensor itself. You will then see pcv valve underneath.3For a 3800 normally asperated check out the following website for pics and instructions. http://www.scacgp.com/mods/gt_pcv.htm."G"
between throtle body and firewall
V8, yes. I6, no. The I6 uses an orifice not a valve.
The 1997 Mercury PCV valve is located on the outside of the air cleaner housing. The PCV valve can be found on the back of the housing.
You can find the PCV valve for your 1997 Mitsubishi Montero on top of the engine. The PCV valve will be in front of the air cleaner housing.

4.0L does not have a PCV valve, it uses an orifice in the rear of the valve cover.
It might be that your pcv valve is plugged or the egr valve is sticking.
For all GTPs 1997-2003, the first step is to remove the cosmetic supercharger cover. At the rear of the motor, on the driver's side of the vehicle, there is a small plate etched with "PCV." Use a small socket and ratcher to unscrew the two bolts, and the PCV valve will be exposed. The PCV valve may stick, so you may need needlenose pliers. Remove the valve, and do not lose the corresponding spring. Simply put the new valve with the spring in and reinstall. Hope this helps!
PCV Valve LocationI just changed mines recently. Remove the top cover. It should be located on the left side (passenger side) next to the fuse box. It has a plastic covering that reads sensor. Look for the wiring. That's correct if its a Grand Prix GT. If you have a Grand prix GTP supercharged engine, the PCV valve is under the black plastic engine cover which comes off by removing the oil filler plastic tube and lifting up and forward. Look to the back right corner of the intake manifold when standing in front of the car and you will see a small metal cover with two bolts. Inside is a gasket, a spring, and the PCV valve. Be careful and keep it clean.
in the valve cover
the 89 with the 360 has the pcv valve in line behind the carburator.
