I JUST REPLACED MY.THERE ARE 3 BOLTS AND 2 WIRES.DISCONNECT THE BATTER FIRST.THE FIRST 2 BOLTS A LITTLE HARD,BUT TOO BAD.THE 3RD BOLT IS ON THE DRIVERS OF THE STARTER.YOU WILL NEED A 3/8 RATCHET AND A EXTENSION A FOOT LONG.IT IS A 10MM BOLT ALL OF THEM ARE.YOU WILL HAD TO INSERT THR EXTENISON THRU A HOLE BEHIND THE PASS SIDE TIRE ALL THE WAY TO THE STARTER.IT WILL TAKE A COUPLE TRIES TO GET IT LINED UP.ONCE YOU DO THE THE SCOKET ON THE BOLT YOU ARE GOOD TO GO.BOLT IT BACK TOGETHER THE SAME WAY. The 2000 Mercury Sable starter will have three retaining bolts. There will be two cable retaining nuts on the front of the starter.
Disconnect the battery. The vehicle will probably have to be raised to reach the starter. The starter has two or three bolts holding it in, and wiring attached. Remove the wires remembering where to put them back. Remove the bolts and pull starter out.

follow the raditor hose it will have to bolts look for the bolts take them off and it inside the hose.
To replace the hinge on a 95 Mercury Cougar, remove the bolts holding the hinge in place. Find a replacement hinge from the manufacturer and install it using the right hardware.

The starter is mounted on the passenger side of the transmission. It has one wire connected to it (with a small bolt) and there are two bolts holding the starter in.
Remove 2 or 3 starter bolts and pull out starter, but first disconnect battery.
Disconnect the battery. The starter should have two or three bolts holding it in. And there will be wires connected on it. Loosen the bolts and wiring connectors, then remove the starter from its mount.
you can get to the starter from the top side if you pull the air filter housing and hose off first then you can see the starter my 95 as 14mm bolts
