How do you change a wheel bearing on a 2000 dodge 4 wheel drive ram 2500?

The bearing comes as a complete hub assembly. Remove wheel. Remove brake caliper and bracket (together) by taking out the two 12 point 16mm bolts on the upper and lower ends of the caliper bracket. Then slide the rotor off the hub. Remove the axle nut using a 40mm (i think) socket and impact gun. On the back of the hub you will find 4 12 point 14mm bolts. Remove these bolts. At this point there are a few different "tricks" to pulling out the assembly. The one that works best for me is.... Leave the 4 bolts in the back of the hub in about 1/2 way. Then use an air hammer and go around each of the bolts and try hammering the hub out little by little, evenly around the hub. If your hub has never been changed...or it has been quite some time....i suggest biting the bullet and taking it to a shop. The last one I did...which was my own of course....took two days and a LOT of accetalyne torching, hours of using the ball joint press and hammering away....not to mention I did not succeed and had to remove the entire knuckle and put it in a 30ton press....which we buried the guage on so probably OVER 30 tons of pressure and it FINALLY came out. ( i was doing ball joints too) If by ANY CHANCE you think your ball joints might need done....NOW is the time. If you have the tools, patience and help.....definately do it yourself. Most shops around here charge about $2000 for the total job.
