this is for a 1990 grand am i dont know if it is the same for other cars. remove the horn cover then remove the blinker assembly you will see a cover this will need to be pressed down ( this requires a special tool to do this an auto parts store may have it,i barroed a friends)to reveal a c clip that is around the steering shaft. remove the clip and the cover will come off. you then will see a screw that runs beside the ignition , put your key in the ing ,remove the screw and the lock will slide out (i dont remember if you need to turn on the key or not) good luck
change the Ignition Lock lock switch
How do I replace an Ignition in a 1970 Maverick
To change the ignition lock cylinder in a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker, first disarm the air bag system. Then remove the clock spring assembly to be able to remove the old ignition lock cylinder and replace with a new.
The ignition switch should be separate from the ignition key/lock assembly, so I'll say no.
On most cars, yes.
how to change igntion lock
Do you mean the electrical ignition switch or the cylinder lock and key..?
Turn the key to acc. and push the plunger in located on the Ignition lock housing
Answerput your ignition key in the lock turnit to accesory, there will be a small pinhole you will have to stick a pin of some sort in there and then it should just pop right out.

Remove the retaining ring at the top of your Chevy S 10 ignition lock cylinder. Slide the ignition lock cylinder out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition lock cylinder. Reverse the process to install the new ignition lock cylinder.
there is a little green ignition switch, this is whats used to turn engine on and off. a metal block goes onto this and then the actual lock barrel goes onto here
