how to change front shocks in 01 Chevy s10
(Licenced Technician) -- 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis does not use struts. It uses coil springs with separate shocks for the front and rear - except for some of the upscale trim Grand Marquis models, which run computer-controlled air suspension in the rear. Why are you wanting the "struts" changed? Are you having handling problems? Does the car sit low on one side? I have owned a 1991 Crown Vic and a 1989 Grand Marquis; front shocks are not really difficult (for me) to change; front coil springs are much more difficult. These cars were known for sometimes breaking coil springs. Unless you have a good solid garage floor, a couple of floor jacks, a complete set of line-up bars, and access to air tools, I would not recommend doing this job yourself. Hope this helps.
you dont need to remove coil springs to change shocks just remove 2 bolts on the bottom of the lower control arm and 1 at the top the shock goes up thru the center of the controlarm and the coil spring
how do you replace the front sway bar likn in a 1999 Grand Marquis?
Yes , shock absorbers front and rear
Open the trunk and turn the switch off that says air ride. Or the button might also b on the front passenger side kick panel.
The rear are shocks the front has struts. Rears shocks are a snap to change. Front struts should only be changed if you have the proper tools and knowledge as it can be dangerous.
you cant change the front shocks on the trailblazer without a spring compressor because on a trailblazer they all have struts and they have to be compressed down
its on the passenger side front near the front tire
Struts on the front , but motorcraft.com lists shocks and struts for the back ( I'm confused ! )
It will be easier if you pull off the front tires then you have the shock bolts at your reach. It took me 30 min for both front shocks.
Go to Car-Part.com and you can find many many seats for this car
Disc, front and rear.
In order to change the front shocks, you will need a ratchet and socket kit. You will also need some replacement shock absorbers.
Just get a tape measure and just measure it from front to rear including the front and rear bumpers..
