You have to reach over the top of the front wheels over the frame and you will see the spade type connectors and on some a proctective metal shield. The glow plugs without the shields are straight forward, you just pull the spade connector off and remove the glow plugs and insert a new and tighten, reinstall the spade connector. The glow plugs with shields: you must remove the shields and look further up the glow plug wire to find a weatherpack connector and undo it and slide the shield down and remove spade connector from plug and remove and install new plug and shield. The right rear glow plug is very difficult to reach and is mostly done working blind.

Depends on which diesel you are talking about. A 1993 or earlier the glow plugs located outside edge of the heads below the valve cover. 1994 through early 2003, the 7.3 turbo diesel engines the glow plugs are located in the heads but under the valve cover. You will need to remove the valve cover to retrieve the glow plugs. Basically the non turbo diesels have the glow plugs outside edge of the heads. In all turbo diesels you have to remove the valve covers to get to the glow plugs.
Unless your ford focus is a diesel your car does not have glow plugs.
To replace glow plugs on a Peugeot 405 turbo diesel, remove the connecting wire. Take off the 8 mm nut, followed by the 10 mm deep socket. Remove the old plugs and replace with new.
