Why won't the keys in the ignition turn on a 1992 grand marquis?
Begin by removing the retaining ring at the top of your 1992 Chevy ignition switch. The ignition switch will slide out. Remove the wiring harness from the end of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.

The switch is on the steering column about 18 inches up from the floor. There are 2 screws that hold it on,

The 1992 Plymouth Cold ignition switch is held in place by a retaining ring. Remove the retaining ring at the top of the ignition switch. Pull the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness from the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.

on my '91 with tilt steering the ignition switch is located underneath the key, inside the steering column only three screws hold it on, but alotta torx hold that cover on.....have fun
You have screws on the underside of the steering column take those out with a star screwdriver take the cover off. Now take the screws out of the switch and you might have to have a key to turn the ignition, the switch comes right out with the wires on. Hope this helps
you have to pull the steering wheel off. pull turn signal housing off. on top of ignition switch there are two bolts which are smooth on top so you have to take a punch and knock them loose. take them out
That 92 GMC van doesn't have a relay for ignition. Power for the ignition is supplied from the ignition switch.

I removed my ignition switch with a screwdriver and a power drill. I warn you it damaged the whole system though. I have to start it with a screwdriver now.
There are fuses under the dash panel ,and under the hood near the battery are the (power distribution) high amperage fuses which mostly are for the ignition system, wiper motor.
There won't be a relay for the ignition. You may have a "blown" fuse.
It would need to be drilled. Best to just call a locksmith.

I had a similar problem with my Jetta. It turned out to be the ignition switch. It takes a little work to change it as the steering column has to come out to disconnect the ignition switch from the bottom of the tumbler( where the key goes in). i

First remove the steering wheel, remove the torx screws and remove the house, remove the signal switch and the wiper switch, remove the torx screws and?æremove the ignition switch. Put in the new switch and replace everything in reverse.?æ
