Just did this last night. Open the car door. Find the triangular panel with the small speaker directly opposite the mirror. The bottom edge has a couple of tabs behind the door panel. Do not pull here. The top corner of the triangle has a spring catch that will give way when tugged firmly. There are three studs with nuts that take a 10mm deep socket very nicely. Remove the nuts while supporting the mirror from the outside. Carefully feed the mirror control wires through the hole as you remove the mirror. Detach the wire connector by lifting the tab on the bottom of the mirror connector receptacle. Feed the wire and connector back through the hole. Install the new mirror with the three nuts. Check to see that the mirror exterior lines match the existing molding to determine how tight to tighten the nuts. Compare with the other side if necessary. Reconnect the electrical connector to the mirror. Set the bottom edge of the triangular speaker panel in place with the tabs hooked behind the lower panel, tilt the top edge up and press firmly. Five minute job tops, now that you know the secret. Took me ten minutes to figure out.

The passenger side mirror is manual. Move it by pushing on the mirror itself. Most cars are like this, I know it kinda stinks, but thank goodness we have a knob on the drivers side.

I don't know about the 2003, but I recently bought a 2006. When the power mirror adjustment button is selected to make the driver's side mirror active - that is, to adjust that mirror - the passenger's side mirror will rotate down when you shift into reverse. If the adjustment button is selected to the passenger's side, the mirror will remain stationary when you shift into reverse.
