First you pull the hood lever inside the cab of the car to release to hood...depending on your car, when you open your hood, it will either stay open with gas shocks or use the metal rod to lock the hood from falling on your head...then, locate the battery (usually in the front right corner) and check the size of the bolt that secures the battery cables to the battery post (If you don't know the size of the bolt then grab an adjustable wrench) and then twist the nut to loosen the bolt and remove the cables..After the cables are removed, screw off the battery tie-down (most cars have this and it holds the battery from moving around) After this is removed you just lift the battery out from under the hood (be sure to wear gloves or use something to protect your hands from possible battery acid splashing on your hands)
