On my 98 there is a screw at the rear of the seat, remove the screw, there should be two large screws that go to frame on either side of seat (hex head) remove these. proceed to slide whole seat forward it is held down upfront with a large clip underneath. this will expose battery after removing seat. Note: make sure when replacing seat that the large clip is in place and holding down front of seat otherwise you will have to take everything back apart when you discover it is not fastened BUTCH

Remove seat, un bolt the battery, pull up and remove. Put a new one in, bolt the two knots and replace the seat!

On the rear fender, undo the single screw. Then lift the seat, slide it back, and, finally, remove it. When you see the battery, undo the negative and positive terminal. Remove the battery from the box. Refit the battery doing the opposite of what you did when you removed the battery.
