Make sure the car is turned off, and keys pulled out of the ignition. Next, label your spark plug wires for the corresponding sockets they came from on the coil pack, unless you feel you can remember where they go. Unplug the electrical connector that comes from the engine wiring harness, then take off the plug wires. There will be bolt heads visible on the edge of the coil pack, remove those, and the pack will come off of the motor! Install the new one in reverse of how you removed the old one! (bolts first, plug wire second, harness wire last) If the pack is your problem, the car should fire up! Hope this helps!

How do you change a coil pack on a 1997 cavalier
It is located to the right of the ignition coil pack, on top of the motor. It is the black sensor, right behind the alternator, bolted into the intake manifold.

There is not distributor cap on it. It has a coil pack an it should be located right in front of the throttle body with 3 bolts a computer wire and the spark plugs
Changing ignition coil on a Subaru consists of removing four capscrews, four sparkplug wires, and one clip-on electrical connector then putting the new coil in, attaching the wires and tightening the screws. No mystery here and the job is easier than changing wiper blades. Much easier. --Ken
