This is also known as the radiator overflow tank or coolant bottle. It is made of plastic and has been known to break or crack. It is easy to remove, repair and install. On the 2006 VTX 1800 there is a chrome cover on the left side of the bike between the cylinders, just across from where the air cleaner is on the right side of the bike. The overflow tank is just behind this cover. On the 2004 model of the VTX this tank is located in front of the rear wheel. As a result of a design change in 2006, the fuel pump was moved from inside the gas tank and was placed between the swing arm and the crankcase close to the oil filter where the coolant overflow tank had been. Because of this a new place had to be found for the coolant overflow tank and it was placed between the cylinders on the left side of the bike in later models. In case these tanks break or crack they can often be repaired by using plastic epoxy glue. In some cases, provided the area is clean, it is possible to repair the cracked tank without removing it. However, it is easy to remove once you have removed the outer chrome cover. The tank is a bit irregular in shape and fits snugly in its place. The tubing leading to it has to be removed as well.
