If your 1987 Celebrity has the 4 cylinder 2.5L engine
The ignition module is mounted to the engine block beneath the intake manifold. First unplug the electrical connector, then mark the spark plug wires so you know where to put them back and unplug the spark plug wires. Remove the bolts that hold the ignition module in place. Then unplug the module from the crankshaft position sensor and remove the module from the vehicle. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.
If your vehicle has the V6 2.8L engine:
Raise the car and put on stands as necessary.
The ignition module is bolted to the block below the exhaust manifold on the radiator side of the engine. Unplug the electrical connections. Mark the spark plug wires so you know where to put them back and unplug them. Next remove the bolts that hold the module in place and remove it. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.
On the V6 the ignition module is under the distributor cap.

The 1987 Chevy Celebrity has distributor less ignition. The timing is controlled by the engine control module and there is no provision for adjustment.
I believe that one sits under the coil packs.
it's underneath the rotor in the distributor. you have to take the distributor out to change it.
Timing on a 1987 thru 1990 Chevy Celebrity 2.8/3.1 engine is controlled by the ignition control module along with the engine control module. There is no provision or specification for manually adjusting the timing on these distributor-less models.
