How do you change the fuel pump on a 1996 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme 3.1 2 door?

The way me and my friend did this, was to drop the fuel tank, drain the fuel into something reuseable such as buckets of some sort, after you do that, there should be a metal ring on top of the tank, with some hoses and maybe a wire coming out of it. you need to spin that ring, either with a screwdriver or a specialty tool at a parts store, once you get that off, the fuel pump will come out, it will look like a little motor, disconnect it from the short hose, and while you are there, replace the hose, and im not sure, there might be a bolt or two holding the pump to the assembly, replace the pump, making sure all wires are reconnected, then installation is the reverse of removal, i recommend reinstalling the tank while its empty, and when you have it installed, then refill it.
