In order to take off a gear knob in a Peugeot 206, you will need pliers. First, take off the gaiter housing. Turn it upside down. Cut/brake the zippy tie. Pull the old knob forcefully. The gear knob will come off.
My wife's gear knob in her Peugeot 207 HDI had the chrome effect covering pealing off and was razor sharp. To remove the gear knob its just a matter of pulling it up off of the the shaft and it takes some considerable force. When it was removed I was able to insert a flat ended punch inside the knob and holding the gear knob in my hand I tapped it with a hammer. This pushes the the plastic chrome effect cap off. Peugeot can supply this part alone or the whole gear knob as required. Reassembly is just a matter pushing the new cap on and then pushing the gear knob back onto the shaft. Rick Taylor

The red knob near the gear stick on a Celica is the Hazard Flasher switch. If a person needs to stop along a busy highway or is traveling very slow in traffic it is a good idea to turn the Hazard Flashers on to warn other drivers.
