very easy! I have this same van. Conversion van? Remove interior cowling, find distributor cap, the center most spark plug wire will lead you to the coil which should be in the front of the engine. You will probably need to access it from under the van unless you have smaller hands. Should have two or four bolts that are easy to remove and cost new at autozone for about $22.00. Even if it is not the right price to correct your problem it will increase fuel mpg if it was original. I went from 13 miles mpg with a/c on to almost 15/17 highway. If your problem was stalling at stop lights, and your belt is making noise, take it from me, change your serpertine belt AND PULLEY$110 in parts. Changing the belt and pulley solved my stalling problems. Ohh and have you changed the fuel pump/filter any time within the last 6 years, if not you may consider it. Hard to remove tank without spilling 6 gallons of gas but easy to install, just make sure to install new Ford fuel clips when you reinsert the fuel line to the fuel tank or you may have to remove the tank a few times after driving it around the block a couple time and it wont restart. Pepboys sells two clips for 2.99 and the second clip could replace the second fuel clip on the frame below the passenger door along the frame rail.

No , the 4.6 liter has EDIS ( Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ) with ( 2 ) coil packs and the 5.4 liter V8 has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system with ( 8 ) individual coils
The ignition coil should be inside the distributor behind the cap. Remove the distributor cap screws, remove the cap and you will see the coil.
