how do i change lower ball joint that is pressed in on a 99 tahoe
The ball joint is an integral part of the lower control arms. Ergo you must replace the entire lower control arm. Dealer cost is about $450 ea there's no aftermarket availability that I have found. My car's not worth the price of the parts ro replace the arms. RATS.
if its sohc it doesnt have , if its dohc its behind the lower damper i think
Look at the lower end of the engine - try to follow the + battery cable
You can not just change the ball joint , you have to replace the whole lower control arm with ball joint.
replace lower ball joint on ford ranger 2001
If you mean the lower suspension arm (wishbone) ball joint, it is fixed into the arm. This means you need to replace the whole lower arm.
how do i change a lower ball joint on a 1992 ranger 2wd
yes Yes, this is a good idea as both parts have taken the same amount of strain.
There are 4 O2 sensors on this engine. 2 in front and 2 on the back side of the engine. The lower most one in back requires partial removal of the exhaust.
It's roughly only $20.00 more to replace the whole lower control arm that the ball joint sits in. It will save you alot of grief of pressing out old joint and pressing in the new one.
