Just like you would change the oil in any other car... 1. Remove the oil plug in the oil pan 2. Let it drain 3. Replace the oil plug 4. Remove the old oil filter 5. Put on the new oil filter (hand tighten only) 6. Open the oil cap 7. Pour in oil (generally 4 quarts [one gallon] and 5W-30 or 10W-30) 8. Check dipstick 9. Replace oil cap 10. That's it.
WE recommend 5W30
3000
or mopil xhp that's very good the 2003 kia optima uses 5w-30
For the 2001 kia optima I have found the oil filter between the front passenger side tire and the engine. You can see it if you turn the wheels all the way to the left, although it helps if the filter cover is a bright color. To change it I had to remove the tire.
At the bottom of the engine block.
The auto parts store tonight sold me 4 quarts for the oil change... Optima 2001 4 banger... The actual amount of oil needed for an 1999 - 2003 Optima 4 cyl. is 4.5 qts. and 4.75 qts. for the V6. They use the same size oil filter.
V6 L14459 or PH9688
5-20
It takes 4 quarts of oil to fill
Throw the car away and get another one.
4 cylinder 2.4 litters uses 10W40
