Answer1. Remove the Oil Filler Cap/Dipstick

2. Place your used oil container underneath the front of the frame and try to center it under the oil filter

3. Place your oil filter wrench on the oil filter and turn it counter-clock-wise until it is loose enough to turn by hand.

4. Once the oil filter is loose enough to unscrew with you hand, slowly unscrew it off the rest of the way. The oil filter is full of oil so when it comes off be sure the open part if point up, otherwise you will spill oil all over the place. Once the oil filter is off place it open side down in your used oil container.

5. Let the oil drain out. You be ready with a rag to wipe the excess oil off of the engine case and oil temp sending unit after it mostly all out. Don't worry about getting oil all over the place as not much oil will come out.

6. Next you will need to locate the oil drain hose. This is located behind the clutch and under the swingarm. Place your used oil container underneath the oil drain hose

7. Unscrew the worm clamp (counter-clock-wise) until it is loose enough to pull the hose off. Do not worry about oil coming out. The oil will not come out until you pull the hose off.

8. Gently pull the oil drain hose off until it is completely off and the oil will begin to flow out and into the use oil container. The oil will drain faster if you hold the hose down while it is draining.

9. Once all of the oil has drained out replace the oil drain hose and tighten the worm clamp (clock-wise)

10. Next you will put on the new oil filter. First wipe any excess oil off of the oil pump.11. Inspect the oil filter inside and out for any damage and then place a thin coat of oil to the rubber gasket.

12. Put about 4 oz. of oil in the filter and then place it on the oil pump and turn it clock-wise until it is as tight as you can get it with your hand. Insure that that it is going on correctly so you so not strip the threads on the oil pump. I only hand tighten mine until I can not move it any further. I do not use the oil filter wrench when putting the filter back on.

13. Now fill the oil tank with oil. You should put in about 3 quarts (2.8 liters) minus the 4 oz. you put in the filter or just to the bottom of the tank opening.

14. Replace the Oil Filler Cap/Dipstick.

15. The last thing you want to do is reloosen the oil drain hose and let a little bit of oil run out. This will eliminate the air bubble that is formed in the oil system. Then tighten the worm clamp back up.

16. Start up the engine and insure that the oil check light turns off. Then check for leaks around the oil filter and oil drain hose.
