If the Impala is the same as my 2001 Monte Carlo with a 3.8 L engine, the resivoir is on the pass. side way down low in back of engine compartment. You need a bright light to see it and it is very hard to get at!

For the 3400 Engine see arrow "F" on page 6-10 of your "Owner's Manual'. The Reservoir is on top & part of the Power Steering Pump. As for the 3800 Engine, the Reservoir & Pump Assembly is by the Firewall, behind & below the Alternator. See arrow "F" on page 6-11 for reference.....
