I have a 96 and a 97 S10 p/u and a 97 S10 Blazer all with the 4.3 eng. I changed all of the plugs through the wheel well after removing the front wheels. I use a spark plug socket (that swivels slightly) that comes attached to a long extension that allows the socket to swivel to get into those tight spots where a straight socket and extension won't work (ie, by the steering shaft). We read that you should use a plug socket with a hex-shaped end - so that you can get a wrench around the end (since there is not room for the regular ratchet). Good luck. Good luck is the right answer, that one is a bastard! Engineers for autos should have to work on these before designing them! to ch ange the spark plug you need to go through the opening in your wheelwell. I agree engineers should fix 'em first. I used a "crows foot" (looks like a wrench head with a hole in it for a 3/8" socket wrench in it bought it at menartds) be careful not to let the plug socket move side to side cause i cracked the porcelain on the plug removing it, all so use anti-sieze or electrial connection grease so that removal is easier.
It could also be in the engine compartment behind the power steering pump.
The remote keyless entry control box on my '96 is behind the plastic cover underneath the dash just below the steering column.
It is behind the starter. You will have to remove the starter to even see it.
In our 96 Blazer S10, it was behind the radio. We had to remove the radio to get to it.
i HAD TO REPLACE THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH IN MY 96 BLAZER IT WAS HARD TO FIND BUT I HAD TO REMOVE THE PANEL UNDER THE DASH from drivers door over to the ash tray. to the right of the steering wheel will be a metal bracket behind that bracket was to fuses it was the one left hope this helps.
Behind the shift linkage on the transmission.

in rear of glove box behind small cover
Follow the fuel line fron the tank forward. You will find the filter. It is located right behind the power steering pump. Follow the hard line from the front of the throttle body directly to it.
Directly behind the steering wheel.
Behind the passenger side kick panel or behind the glove compartment.
I have 2001 Chevrolet Blazer and had the same problem. What I did was bought a 5/8 sparkplug swivel socket the swivel and socket are built together and a couple extensions. Then I took the jack to the Blazer, raised the body up a little and went in under the fender put the swivel socket on and screwed it out. It is still a bit tricky but it works. Hope I helped you out!
